You are unique, you are beautiful, you are intelligent, but mostly importantly you are YOU. There is no one else in the world like you, and that is pretty special.
Body Image is something that we all struggle with, whether male or female, old or young; it likes to follow us wherever we go. I decided to talk about the "Dove Real Beauty Sketches" video this week, because it is such a good example of how harsh we can be on ourselves. Give it a watch, it is only about 3 minutes and will no doubt put a smile on your face. We have a tendency to be so much harder on ourselves than the rest of the world is. It is time to stop being a critic, and start focusing on all of the good things we are.
Another great watch, if you are into videos as much as we are, is a Ted Talk by Meaghan Ramsey, discussing how thinking that you are ugly is bad for you on many levels. Not only does it lower self esteem, but it can actually effect your grade point average and increase your risk-taking with drugs and alcohol. For more information on this, visit the Ted Talk link given above and read the script by Meaghan Ramsey. The video is an interesting watch, and it makes you realize how important it is to love yourself (and yes, the Justin Bieber song may be playing in my head right now).
To keep a body positive attitude, try to write down something every day that you love about yourself. Exercise and eat well to engage healthy behaviors, because it will help to make you feel even better. Finally, don't compare yourself to others. Everyone is built and shaped differently, and that is what makes us so wonderfully unique.
Just remember Fruvers, you are one of a kind! Wake up every day and go be you, because no one else in the whole world can do that.
Stay #bodypostive, Fruvers!
