On January 14th, GetFruved at UF kicked off the spring semester with the Fruved-Mazing Race. Modeled after the Amazing Race, the event was designed as a fun-filled team race throughout the UF campus that challenged students both mentally and physically. There were 10 stations spread across campus with clues and tasks to complete.
Over 80 UF students signed up and created teams to compete in the race. Some of these teams included GetFruved peer mentors and their mentees. Students created team names including "Team Do It!", "1 Forrest 1", "The Grapefruves", and "Some Peas in a Pod".
The Fruved-mazing race station tasks included a variation of Simon Says called "Follow the Trainer," Fruved Family Feud, a goal setting station, a taste test, a fruit and vegetable matching game and much, much more. The teams had a wonderful time running around campus and completing the fun and intense games! Everyone was out of breath by the time the event was done.
When asked what the most useful thing they learned from this activity, the UF winners, team Kumquat, (pictured above) said "Overall, just being healthy." Further, they said that the team aspect was helpful and they just had to trust each other.
The Fruved-Mazing Race was amazing alright, thanks to the GetFruved team! Remember to keep staying healthy and working hard.
